Notes:  This last bit was written with a darker pen, but looks to
me like it's in the same handwriting.
     The word "Pathe" is supposed to mean godfather, but the term
is used loosely in these letters.
     In the last paragraph reference is made to George's children
though family tradition says Casper was an only child.  Maybe the
28-year-old John in 1860 is the other son.  Also, Anton sends his
greetings to George's parents which doesn't make much sense since
they  were  surely  dead by then,  and doubtless  never  came  to
America.
     Homberg,  where  Edward was studying,  is a town a few miles
west of Rotenburg.
